Land East of Swindon Road, Wroughton

Traffic and Access

Access roads into the proposed development will come from two points – one at the current roundabout with Lister Road, and another new roundabout to be constructed at the junction with Woodland View.

The new homes will lie within a short walk of both Woodland View and Lister Road bus stops, providing easy access into Swindon Town Centre. The centre of Wroughton is also with walking distance.  Though the “potential future development” land in the centre of the site currently separates the two halves of the development, pedestrian access between the two will be possible through the Eco-park.

We are proposing to upgrade the existing Lister Road/Swindon Road roundabout to include a fourth arm, providing access to the site through where the Artis Farm sheds currently sit. The principle of this roundabout upgrade was approved in a lapsed consent for the development of the Artis Farm buildings in 2019. You can view a diagram of the proposed junction below.

A second new roundabout will be constructed at the junction with Woodland View, providing access to the northern section of the site. Footways will be provided on both sides of the access roads and will link with the existing footway on the eastern side of Swindon Road.   A pedestrian refuge island is also proposed on the access arm of the junction. You can view a diagram of the proposed new junction below.
